Startup Weekend- a global phenomenon- now comes to Karachi!

Startup Weekend was created about three years ago in the US. Itself a startup, it has since grown into a global phenomenon. In the past year alone, there have been more than 100 Startup Weekends worldwide. On a global level, Startup Weekend partners and is sponsored by big names like Microsoft, Amazon, ODesk, Twillio and many more.also appeared on TechCrunch, CNN, MSNBC, The Washington Post, The Boston Globe and many others.

As for as event is concerned, it goes something like this: On Friday evening, everyone with a business idea gets the chance to deliver a 60-90 second pitch in front of the crowd; the ideas are then voted on and a number of teams are formed organically around the ideas selected. The teams will spend the next day and a half working intensely, with the goal of having a working prototype, demo, wireframe, or investor pitch of the idea ready for presentation to a panel of investors and experienced entrepreneurs on Sunday afternoon. The panel selects the winning team(s), who will receive cash or in-kind prizes in the form of co-working space, further mentorship opportunities, and more.
